Humans can hear sounds approximately within the frequencies of 20 to 20,000 Hz. Anything below 20 Hz, typically cannot be heard although it can be felt this can be experienced when you feel the base of a song. Likewise humans cannot
hear any sounds above the frequency of 20,000 Hz. Although human hearing is limited to this frequency range many animals have a wider range of sounds which they can hear, like dogs for example.
The frequency range of the dog hearing is approximately 40 Hz to 60,000 Hz, of course depending on the breed of the dog as well as its age. Like humans, dogs can begin to go deaf as they become older. In some breeds of dogs it is natural for them to go completely deaf in their old age.

Billy Jane was the second dog to come into our house. She is a seven-year-old spaniel Golden retriever mix. Billy was born in our friends house who lived just across the street from us so we saw her every day of her life.
When Billy and her littermat
es were two weeks old, they were playing with a broom and the broom fell. Poor Billy was hit on the head by the broom handle and never knew what hit her as her eyes were not yet open. This bang on the head traumatized her leaving her very nervous and absolutely terrified of anything that resembles a stick and moves in the air. She was so afraid of everything and everyone that the only person who could approach her was myself.

Sammy was the first dog in our house. She is a very submissive eight-year-old blonde Labrador. We found her in a pet shop, and between my friend and her it was love at first sight. She was the only one left of a litter of four blonde Labrador puppies that had arrived that mornin
g that had a
rrived that morning and also the smallest one of the litter. The sign said that she was eight weeks old but we found she was a bit small for a eight-week-old Labrador puppy. While we were admiring her, another couple entered the pet shop and also showed interest in her. When we saw this, my friend ran to get the salesperson before the other couple found her.
